Want A Long And Healthy Life? Then Be Active

Engaging in activities that make your body supple, your mind clear and your spirit happy is the actions for your longevity. The habitual practice of tai chi and qigong, meditative exercise and the benefits of acupuncture and energy healing will help increase energy, promote health and balance your mind and body. Centenarians live simple lifestyles that are active with lots of rest.

Here are some habits to develop:

  • Daily walks for 30-60 minutes are habits of centenarians. Remember to walk at your own pace.
  • Your heart needs to be strengthen by increasing pulse rate to 60%-80% of your maximum heart rate
  • Fitness need to be fun so you will sustain a continuous habit of exercises.
  • Gardening is one of the most common hobbies of centenarians

Benefits of Tai Chi are to slow bone loss in osteoporosis, lowers blood pressure, lessen anxiety, improve sleep, increase functional mobility and balance, enhance circulations and improve one’s cholesterol profile. Breathe away your toxins by practicing deep, slow, rhythmic, diaphragmatic breathing daily. The benefits you will experience are better energy, improved skin complexion, clearer mind and elevated moods.

Music will add years to your life. Calming classical music enhances cognitive functions like memory, concentration and reasoning skills. Music also boosts the immune system, lowers blood pressure, relaxes muscle tension, regulates stress hormones, elevates moods, and increases endurance.

A good solid night sleep is enjoyable, healthful and helps extend your life. Sleep is restorative to one’s mind and vitality as it is critical to the proper functioning of organs such as your liver, which performs most of its detoxification at night while you sleep. Sleep deprivation causes problems from mood disorders, digestive ailments to elevated cholesterol and blood pressure.

    These are valuable tips Arlan. My husband and I are in our 50s and 60s, and a lot of our friends and sisters and brother in laws are similar ages. It’s obvious by watching and spending time with these people, that those who exercise and follow your other tips, are much healthier and happier. I have one brother in law who is amazed that my husband doesn’t take any medicinal drugs even though he’s in his 60s and older than my brother in law.

They have just opened an office in Australia. The company is Enagic, a Japanese company that manufactures water treatment machine for the home and are considered medical devices in Japan.     yes it works my niece who is 27 had hypnotherapy for months and she recalled someone locking her in a closet when she was 1 yrs old …was her mom (my sister) I remember it cause I was 7 and lived with them ..my sister denies her crazy abuse to this day .

    Gee Arlan, all the centenarians I know are already taking their “Dirt Nap” But I do believe it the health benefits you espouse and follow most of them my self. I was asked by a young Finical Planner recently what were my Twenty year Goals. I said I only have two. One, to be able to breath with assistance. And the second, to know who I am. Good post buddy, onward and upward to “centenarianship”.

    Now here is an enemy – focused obsessive work on the computer. I know it is unhealthy (lack of movement/activity) but find it hard to buck it. I remember that my Mom, after a stroke resulted in some paralysis and she lacked the will (or physical strength) to do physical therapy. So she basically stayed in bed or a wheelchair. It is so evident that when your body doesn’t move, it deteriorates. Then, if you have no other challkenge to the brain, your mind deteriorates as well. Activity is key. Now, will I change? Have you?

      Hi Richard: I’m impressed with your quick mind and fingers. In January, I really concentrated on Exercise, diet and hydration. I walked or played tennis daily for 60 minutes. I have been changing my diet to a vegetarian one. I hydrate by drinking 2-3 glasses upon waking up. 2-3 glasses before lunch and the same before dinner. In six month I lost 40 lbs and feel terrific. My cholesterol and tryglyc are down to the normal range. About 4 weeks ago I started drinking Kangan Water, amazing stuff. Richard when you get really sick, you get motivated. My wellness quest has been researching and trying various alternatives to wellness. Keep up the good work, my friend.
