Health Care Needs A Paradigm Shift And Wellness Needs To Be Practiced.

April 13th, 2011 by Arlan Murata

We need a paradigm shift in “Medicine” just like the shift from the world is flat to the world is round. Medications, prescription drugs are killing us. These chemicals are fighting our body cries for water according to Freydoon Batmanghelidj, M.D, in his book, “Your Body’s Many Cries For Water”. His many case studies of patients bodies healing themselves should wake people up to simple things that help our bodies heal like: drinking 2 quarts of water per day, taking sea salt, exercise and watching what we eat.

My research has shown that people that are living a healthy and long life from the centurions of Okinawa to people that follow a simple lifestyle change. Things like daily hydration with 8-12 glasses of good water, diet of 85% plant based foods and 15% animal based foods, daily exercise like simply walking for 30 minutes, living a joyful and appreciative life, praying, breathing, daily bowel movements, and meditating.

Doctors and scientists like: Andrew Weil, MD, Gabriel Cousens MD, Dean Ornish, MD, Deepak Chopra, MD, Rustom Roy, Hiromi Shinya, MD, Norman Walker, MD, Jesus and many more have helped many people make simple lifestyle changes so that their bodies healed themselves from many degenerative diseases.

Dr Gabriel Cousins Tree Of Life Center showed Eating Simply Raw Reversed Diabetes in 30 days. Dr. Dean Ornish has shown the health insurance world that raw food and exercise reverses heart disease. Dr Freydoon Batmanghelidj has many patients that had their bodies heal by simply drinking 2 quarts of water.

Why is the medical practice debating stuff when they should be helping us as individual to get our bodies to heal itself. They do not heal us, our body does. God gave us an awesome body that tells us what is wrong and heals itself given what it cries for.

We are individuals that have bodies that react differently to what is given to us. Help us learn and take action on a healthy lifestyle change for our wellness.

We are people with health issues and want a cure, not a debate about which is better. The focus is not where it should be, on us as individuals. Help us find the cause and point us in a direction that helps our bodies heal itself.

Don’t tell us to have surgery, chemo, radiation and drugs that kill and cut out the symptoms. Don’t tell us to take this alternative drugs that “experts” and research (funded by the makers of the alternative drugs) proves it; just help us as individuals to have our bodies heal itself.

We are brain washed by government regulations, FDA, Drugs and surgery, environment, food companies and beverage companies that convince us that what they as experts tell us is good for us. Don’t poison our water with fluorides and chlorides. Don’t give us drugs and poisons that kill the symptoms and also our cells. Stop! Tell us the truth not what is best for your profit and politically correct.

I tell you this as a person on a wellness quest that has followed the medical “Experts” and did not get well, as a matter of fact got worst. There are many of us that has stories to tell on our wellness quest that “Medicine” has given up on us or told us we had incurable conditions, bull!

The “Conventional Medical Practice” applies trial and error on us in general that individually harms us and drains our financial resources. After a fortune is spent, we are told “Conventional Medical Practice” can do no more for us and writes us off. I do have to say that there are a few that actually care and work diligently to help our bodies heal itself. I say thank you to those who do care and help.

Does Your Clothes Make You Feel & Look Younger?

January 28th, 2011 by Arlan Murata

Discover Simple Dressing Techniques That Will Help You Look Younger

Most people understand there is a wide range between dressing too young and dressing too old. But how exactly should a mature person dress in order to look and feel younger without dressing inappropriately? On the other hand, what are some mistakes people make in their clothing choices that make them look older than they are?

You won’t have to invest in expensive clothing or accessories to put a wardrobe together that makes you look younger. Check the things you have now in your closet and see if you can’t wear them in a new way. Let’s take a look:

Dress for your size

The most common mistake people make when choosing clothing as they get older is they buy clothes that are too big and ill constructed. Many people gain weight as they age and then cover their bodies in huge shirts and those awful formless frocks. When you catch a glimpse of yourself in one of those muumuus and think ‘frumpy and old’ it’s time to rethink your clothing choices.

Older women in particular have many choices now to buy well-fitted clothing in all sizes, even plus sizes. Many styles that more petite women can choose from are now offered across many sizes. The hardest hurdle to clear for many people is accepting that you are a different size now. Don’t stress about what the tag says. If the garment fits well and accentuates your positives then you are going to knock years off your appearance.

Choose vibrant colors

This goes for men and women alike. Don’t be afraid to wear a color that accentuates your skin tone. In fact, these colors can lend their glow to yours. Pair solids with prints containing a similar hue so you don’t feel overwhelmed by too much of a pattern.

Whatever you do, stay away from big grey t-shirts and sweats. There are very few older people who’s skin can handle a big dose of gray next to it. Adding a colorful scarf or other accessory can also help bring the color of your skin up a notch. Listen to what people say, too. If you get compliments every time you wear a certain color, wear more of it!

Throw out anything that doesn’t fit

Having a closet full of three different sizes just in case you lose a few pounds is not only space-wasting, but emotionally draining. Old clothing may have sentimental value but it could be holding you back. If it’s that important, pack it away, but don’t wear it.

If you insist on wearing clothing that doesn’t fit, you are not only going to be uncomfortable, but look out of date. If the buttons are about to pop off of that favorite blouse of yours from 20 years ago, you will not be giving the impression of someone who is vibrant and youthful. You’ll be giving the impression of someone who is losing the battle against age. If you can’t afford to replace your entire wardrobe, don’t. Start by buying one outfit that actually fits. You’ll soon see how good you look, and feel, stepping out in clothes that fit.

Accessorize

Have a long sweater dress? Give it some shape with a sassy belt. No matter what age you are, you can wrap a black dress with a red patent leather belt and look fabulous. If you’re thicker around the middle, drape the belt across the hips. Or maybe you’d like to try a fashionable new scarf. Check out the latest trends in accessories and give them a try.

There are very few clothes or accessories that say “teeny bopper” except those that are really and truly fads. Other than that, your field is wide open. Change handbags, earrings, sunglasses, and bracelets to get brand new updated looks to make you appear younger and more stylish. Don’t forget hats and shoes! Look lean

There are a couple tricks that really do make a person appear more slender and younger. One trick that most people know is to wear dark colors on the bottom. Save the light colors for the blouses, sweaters, wraps, and accessories. Simple, straight legged pants without pleats or puckers, and simple black skirts are the basis to any good wardrobe for the older set.

Another trick to appearing leaner and more slender is to wear shoes or boots with a little heel. You don’t have to go nuts and wear stilettos; you can choose a nice wedge heel or a two inch heel. Just that little lift will make your body appear longer and will give your step a little lift. As we age we fight gravity; we feel we’re drooping. When we do things to make us appear more slender, we feel ‘lifted.’ This will take the years off.

Avoid novelty sweaters

This tip is just for fun! Nothing says ‘old’ like novelty sweaters around the holidays. If you must wear one, wear it in the house. When you leave the house, leave the sweater. These sweaters are very often not made well, so not only are they instantly aging you, but the condition of the sweater will also scream OLD.

There are, however, parties that require guests wear a novelty sweater. You’re among friends, so go right ahead and play it up. Just remember to take it off when you leave the party!

You’ve heard, “Do these jeans make my butt look fat?” Well, you should be asking, “Does my closet make me look old?” Don’t keep clothing around that ages you. Pitch those boxy shirts, tight pantsuits (I know you’ve got one!), baggy sweats, and frumpy muumuus. Buy one crisp, colorful, curvy, well-fitting outfit that makes you look and feel like you are 10 years younger… then buy another one!

Want Sinus Relief?

January 17th, 2011 by Arlan Murata

How Do You Treat Blocked Sinuses at Home?

When the weather turns cool there seem to be more incidents of sinus problems. Blocked sinuses can be a pain to deal with, especially if you are a busy person. Before you drive to the nearest pharmacy, the answer to your situation may be in your kitchen.

We as a society have lost touch with the “old ways” of healing. Before there was modern medicine there were its precursors: herbs, plants and other medicinal tools. Many of them you have in your home right now.

Aren’t sure? Well here are some treatment options you can use at home to unblock those sinuses.

* Steam: When nasal passages become irritated they can swell, blocking the flow of air through them. Steam can shrink those passages, allowing for freer breathing. Traditionally, boiling water is placed in a bowl. You may add a few drops of essential oils like eucalyptus or peppermint, which are known to facilitate better breathing. Lean over the bowl and cover it and your head with a towel. Slowly breathe in the vapors for about twenty minutes. Repeat several times a day as needed.

* Neti pot: These have been around for a while but have only recently gained popularity. This small teapot-looking tool can be filled with salt water and flushed through the sinuses to reduce inflammation and swelling. It also helps to keep the passages from drying out and becoming even more irritated.

With warmed salt water inside, lean your head to one side. Slowly pour the water into one nostril. It will naturally flow through to and out the other side, flushing both sides of the nose and sinuses. If you lean back the fluid may flow down the back of your throat leading to coughing.

* Humidifier: Nasal passages that are already blocked and swollen don’t fare well when the air is dry. Turning on your heat when it gets cold will produce just that effect. Using a humidifier returns moisture to the air to relieve the pain and discomfort in those blocked sinuses and hasten your recovery. Try a cool mist humidifier.

* Water: Drink lots of it. One sign of sinusitis is thickened mucous secretions. Besides the swelling of blocked sinuses, the mucus is unbearable too. Staying hydrated can thin these secretions out, allowing them to drain more readily.

* Apple cider vinegar: This vinegar has been used for centuries because of its medicinal properties which include antibiotic. Drink a spoonful several times a day or mix it in with a glass of water. It may reduce congestion from blocked sinuses and also help secretions thin and pass easier.

Are you dealing with a case of blocked sinuses due to sinusitis? The simplest way to combat your condition is to treat the symptoms when they first appear, using everyday items in your kitchen.

YES! Wellness Is Your Choice.

Wellness Is Your Choice

God created you and given you a marvelous Body, Spirit and Soul. Please listen to it and your Body, Spirit and Soul will heal you. They will tell you many things, just listen. When your body is hungry and thirsty, one should listen. You will even be given signals of what to eat and drink.

Victoria Boutenko in her book, “12 Steps To Raw Foods, tells a story of her children. Her son kept asking her for blueberries and mangos, which she gave him and he ate and ate one after another. Her daughter had a craving for figs and olives, which she also, ate and ate. Victoria visited and discussed this with Dr. Bernard Jensen, a world famous clinical nutritionist. Dr. Jensen consulted his books and told her that her that the best things for diabetes was mangos and blueberries, which was her son’s health issue. He told her that that for asthma one needed figs and olives, which was her daughter’s health issue.

Dr. F. Batmanghelidj in his book, “Water Cures, Drugs Kill” says that the human body manifests its water shortage in four categories of conditions: perceptive feelings; drought-management programs; crisis calls; and complications of persistent dehydration.

Crisis Calls – The newly understood regional thirst signals are: heartburn, rheumatoid joint pain, back pain, migraine headaches, colitis pain, fibromyalgic pains, and anginal pain.

There are wellness alternatives, choices, other than surgery and drugs. If I can help you understand wellness, please visit my wellness teaching blog: http://muratasensei.com or send me an email.

Is There A Message In These Degenerative Disease Survivors Stories?

December 22nd, 2010 by Arlan Murata

My Story As a heart attack survivor that underwent surgery and drug therapy, I suffered from heart attack symptoms and made 3 trips to ER with 90 days of coming home from the hospital with 14 prescriptions. My quality of life was terrible. All the trips to ER, multiple tests and 9 specialists were in vane. All the doctors could say was, “We don’t know what is wrong, but you can try this drug”. Even after complaining that my blood pressure was too low and that I felt lousy. The nurse at cardio rehab told me that is what the doctor wanted. My next visit to cardio rehab resulted in being wheeled up to ER because I had gone into ventricular fiberllation as the drugs had drained the potassium from my body. They just changed the drugs without telling me what to do.

Disgusted, I sought alternative treatment and found Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Shao-Bin Zhang, TCM Doctor thouroughly examined me every time, felt my pulses, took my blood pressure, asked me questions about my appetite and what I ate, sleep and movements (exercise). Based upon all this he prescribed herbs, treated me with acupuncture and manipulations and suggested what I should eat. Within 45 days the heart attack symptoms that had been sending me to ER subsided. My treatment continued to the point were the cardiologist was amazed because he did not believe I would make it. Further he did not give me such a hard time as I gradually reduced and stopped the drugs that he had prescribed.

Dave Perkin’s Story

Here is another story of a cancer survivor, Dave Perkins. After carefully following his doctors advice and going through surgery, chemo, removal of his spleen, bone marrow transplant, etc., he was then told, “You are terminal…There is nothing else we can do to cure you.”

At this point he was like me he sought a way to regain his health. He began exploring health alternatives by learning everything he could by reading books, speaking to various health practitioners and especially cancer survivors. Since cancer has devastated him financially as well as physically, he asked these health experts how he could use his limited resources for maximum gain.

This is what he found. He needed to detoxify, hydrate, oxygenate, alkalize his body pH and enhance his immune system. He found a cost effective alternative in drinking “Ionized Alkaline Water”. He drank 80 ounces of Ionized Alkaline Water with at least ¾ teaspoon of Celtic sea salt with his diet daily. From the death sentence pronounced by the medical community, he went from a terminal cancer patient to terminal cancer survivor with no signs of cancer. He stated, “My health and vigor have returned!!!”

I ask you, “Is sounding like my other blog posts?”

Your wellness friend,

Stop! Wake Up, There Are Alternative Choices To You Wellness!

December 13th, 2010 by Arlan Murata

Seek The Answer To The Causes, Don’t Kill The Symptoms.

More and more people are turning to alternatives to surgery and drugs because of the costs and not getting well. The issue to me is that unless health care addresses causes with prevention not eradicating symptoms, health care costs will continue to increase and patients will continue to get sicker. Also, the focus on patient wellness not profit needs to be factored into the choices people make for their wellness. Doctors and scientist like Deepak Chopra, Dean Ornish, Rustom Roy and Andrew Weil are leading the way to alternative, ‘integrative’, medicine. This is a holistic approach to health that uses the best of conventional and alternative therapies such as yoga, meditation, herbal remedies and lifestyle changes.

Keys to wellness: Eat a healthier diet, quit smoking, stop doing drugs (legal or illegal) exercise, meditate, have more love in your life, daily hydration with ‘good’ water (ionized alkaline water, in my opinion), daily elimination, breathing, and rest. These are simple and inexpensive.

The most amazing thing about these keys come from many sources that are surfacing after being suppressed by powerful advocates of things that are not working. The centurions of Okinawa live a lifestyle with most of these keys. Hiromi Shinya, MD and world renown gasterinterologist 7 Keys To Health and Long Life give the same message.

More and more scientific studies are being allowed to come to light that show that our bodies have a remarkable ability to heal itself give the proper environment and fuel, which comes from the lifestyle changes as noted above.

Dr Otto Warburg won the Nobel Prize in 1931 for his discovery of the root cause of cancer. So why are we spending enormous amounts of money in things that are killing the cancer cells and the good cells, hence the patients?

Dr. Warburg has made it clear that the root cause of cancer is oxygen deficiency, Which creates an acidic state in the human body. Dr. Warburg also discovered that cancer cells are anaerobic (do not breathe oxygen) and cannot survive in the presence of high levels of oxygen, as found in an alkaline state.

Studies show that integrative approaches such as plant based diets, meditation and psychosocial support may stop or reverse the progression of heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, prostate cancer, obesity and other chronic conditions.

I believe it is time to focus on what works, what doesn’t, for whom and under what circumstances and help patients heal, not profit from patients sickness. I am a strong advocate that the choices that patients have should not be stifled and hidden for profit. It is an uphill battle with the power of money from the drug, food, beverage, conventional medical practice and government advocates promoting the symptom not the cause to benefit the wrong people.

Your wellness friend,

Wellness, What It Takes?

November 9th, 2010 by Arlan Murata

Wellness is the joy of living with a healthy body, mind, spirit, network and finance. No amount of money will give your health back. Wellness of finance will give you a healthy mind and spirit. Having a healthy body, mind, spirit and finance will allow you to give back to your community, network.

As you can see by my definition, wellness is all of these parts working together and is a continuous pursuit. Each one of these parts has subcategories that I will address, one at a time, remembering all are related. Let us take a look at a healthy body.

After reading and observing people who enjoy a healthy and long life, this is what I’ve found. Their lifestyle includes: diet, movement, hydration, love, rest, breath, elimination, and meditation.

Addressing diet, let’s start with what Pogo says, I have met the enemy and he is me. What do you feed your body? Is it smoke, diet soda, processed foods, drugs, sugar or more?

Smoking is causing cancer. Diet soda is killing you with aspartame.

Diet soda is causing our young children to get cancer and diabetes.

“Chicken McNuggets” are killing you with dimethylpolysiloxane, an anti-foaming agent made of silicone and tertiary butylhydroquinone (TBHQ), a chemical preservative so deadly that just five grams can kill you?

According to a consumer dictionary of food additives, one gram of TBHQ can cause:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Delirium
  • Sense of suffocation
  • Collapse

Based on animal studies, health hazards include:

  • liver effects at very low doses
  • positive mutation results from in vitro tests on mammalian cells
  • biochemical changes at very low doses •reproductive effects at high doses

Do you get the point of what you may be feeding your body is killing you and you need to change?
In the next post, let’s address what a healthy diet is.

Can Music Really Help Mental Illness?

October 31st, 2010 by Arlan Murata

I believe that love, joy and appreciate are part of your wellness that will help your body heal. I refer you to Hiromi Shinya’s book, “The Enzyme Factor” to learn from an outstanding MD his keys to a long and healthy life.

In a previous post, “Music and Sound Helps Your Body Heal Degenerate Disease” This post is about how music helps your brain and mental health issues. A musician from the LA Philharmonic tells the story of his connection with “Nathaniel Ayers”. This is what music did to help a mentally ill person that was better than the previous medical treatment of the mentally ill experienced. It is awesome.

Your wellness friend,

Why Do I Blog About Wellness?

October 12th, 2010 by Arlan Murata

I am on a crusade to educate people that surgery and drugs attacks the symptoms not the cause. This leaves you with more health issues. I advocate that “Wellness Is Your Choice” so take control of your wellness.

As a Cancer patient, What would you you do if you heard these words “You Are Terminal…There Is Nothing Else We Can Do To Cure You.”

This is Dave Perkins Story, A Terminal Cancer Survivor. After 3 years of the best cancer treatments known to the western medical community, they had nothing left to try to cure him. He said, “ I had followed my doctors’ advice and gone through various tortures trying to control the cancer that was threatening my life.” His ordeal included:
Gallons of chemotherapy and steroids
Surgery to remove spleen
Bone marrow/stem cell transplants
Signs of heart, kidney and live failure
High fevers
Loss of hair, weight, wasted muscles, painful sores in his mouth and throat
Severely compromised Immune System and so forth

At this point he researched and learned everything he could about natural health alternatives. Interviewed cancer survivors and health practitioners. Since cancer had devastated him financially, his question was how to best use his limited resources for maximum gain. These are five simple steps he found to maximize and achieve victory over his sickness: Detoxify, Hydrate, Oxygenate, Alkalize his body pH and Enhance his immune system.

He found a low costs method was the benefits of ionized alkaline water. Ionized Alkaline Water, Kangen Water, that assisted his body in: Detoxification, Hydration, Oxygenation, Alkalize his body pH and Enhance his immune response. He generally drank 80 ounces of 8.5 to 9.0 pH of Kangen Water with at least 3/4 teaspoon of Celtic sea salt in his diet each day.

Since following these five steps, he has gone from a terminal cancer patient to a terminal cancer survivor with no signs of cancer. His health and vigor have returned. He believes that kangen water was a major contributor to surviving cancer and to regain and maintain his good health. It fact, it has replaces or allowed him to cut down on many expensive supplements he used to take.

My story is similar as a heart attack victim. Surgery and drugs had left me unable to function because of unknown cause of dizziness and cold sweats that landed me into ER 3X within 90 days of surgery. Plus, another ER trip was because the drugs had drained the potassium from my body. Sick of this treatment, I sought alternatives and found a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) doctor who treated me with herbs, acupuncture, food suggestions and movement (exercise) requirements of simply walking at a moderate pace for 30 minutes a day. I recovered have been able to function normally. In January, 2010, I added a routine of: 1) Eating a more vegetarian diet, 2) Daily hydration with 8-12 glasses of alkaline water and 3) Moderate exercise of walking and tennis for 60 minutes on alternative days. I have lost 44 lbs, have more energy and sleep soundly plus feel terrific.

Western medicine has an incorrect concept fueled by money of the drug, food, beverage and western medical education and practice. There are a few that are breaking from the western medical education and practice that are being prosecuted by the “establishment”. There are alternatives to your wellness other than surgery and drugs.

My purpose of blogging about wellness is to crusade for people to make Wellness your choice. So question and challenge and search for the cause of your health issue so that you are able to resolve it, not be killed or suffer with western medicine as it is currently practiced with surgery and drugs to attack the symptoms not the cause.

What Can Space Cultivated Organic Goji Berries Do For Your Wellness?

October 10th, 2010 by Arlan Murata

In August, 2003, The Chinese Agricultural Goji Research Institute selected 6 grams of “Ningsia #1 best quality goji seeds and place in a satellite space shuttle for vacuum cultivation experimentation.

3 months later the germinated seeds showed a marked improvement in the goji quality. The goji berries were 30%-40% larger; the polysaccharides content was higher by 49.1%; the betaine (for protein assimilation and protection of the liver) content was higher by 23.9%; vitamin A (to protect and improve eyesight) increased by 41.7%; the total vitamin count increased by 281.5%; trace minerals or iron and zinc were higher by 17.3% and 51.9$ respectively; carotenoids content increased by 36.9% …the effectiveness of the space cultivated organic goji berries is 2.8X better than the original goji berries.

The Chinese Medical Science Institute verified that high heat environment (cooking) destroys98% of the effectiveness of the goji berries. The best way to consume the goji berries is to eat them is by chewing and swallowing them raw.

I have been eating goji berries for my cholesterol and triglycerides and have reduced my levels from 217 to 139 and 265 to 69 respectively. My family doctor tried them and experienced reduction of his cholesterol and triglycerides too.

Here is an article By Dr. Lindsey Duncan detailing the health benefits of Goji Berries.

I show you this to educate you to the fact that there are alternatives to surgery and drugs that are more cost effective that work. I make no claims on what it would do for you, draw your own conclusions. I believe in challenging everything, especially the western medical practice of surgery and drugs.
